Talk to people, take classes, and be aware of the latest trends in the industry. Once you get the job, you are expected to know what you’re doing. This is where the technique you develop and consistently practice (in classes, workshops, or on stage) is crucial. Most important, however, is your attitude. Many actors are jaded and bitter; it’s a very tough business, full of failure. But it’s not impossible, and you’ll often find that working actors are generally positive about their outlook on the business and life. |

How To Deal With Jealousy Once And For All
The biggest problem when trying to come to terms with jealousy is that we have so many misconceptions around it. It's hard to deal with it when we don't really know a whole lot about it. There's way too much unknown when it comes to jealousy.
Therefore, I'm going to list out some characteristics of jealousy to help demystify it. Make it easier to understand.
You disrespect yourself when you get jealous.
You don't honor and respect yourself when you get caught up in jealousy. You're saying that what the other person is doing is more significant than you. You devalue yourself. "Their actions become more important than who I am as a person."
Jealousy causes your power to drain away.
Surprise! You just gave your power away when you got jealous. Of course that power can't be used by them. So it's not like they become more powerful. Quite the contrary. But when you become jealous, you don't get to use your power either. And along those same lines, here's a related fact about jealousy:
You become absolutely powerless if you keep being jealous.
And bad things usually happen if you become powerless! See, the natural tendency when you feel powerless involves lashing out at others. When jealousy is not dealt with, it can even turn to violence; at least in extreme cases. You don't want that!
Jealousy naturally flows into rage.
Rage starts when you become powerless. In fact, rage always comes out of a sense of powerlessness. By first feeling powerless, if you don't resolve those feelings, it will turn to rage. The solution involves actually feeling the powerlessness - just feel it cleanly, and don't tell yourself a story about what it means to be powerless. You feel it, release it, and then you'll become more powerful. Strange, but true!
That's because when you feel anything (cleanly) then it lifts your resonance as your heart processes out the feelings. (In this case, your heart processes the feelings of powerlessness.)
There is no good side to jealousy.
The assumption that jealousy demonstrates your love is a common misconception. But that is not love. Love is not about suffering and martyring yourself. Love involves feeling love. It's all the faulty beliefs we hold about love that cause us to end up feeling martyrhood and pain as opposed to that wonderful feeling of love itself.
Jealousy exists as a mental construct which is just a made-up story.
You have to make up stories to yourself to get jealous. Period. You have to conjure stories in your own mind. And the stories are always painful. Sometimes, very painful. You get further and further off-center and more and more powerless while at the same time moving away from your own true feelings.
So what is the most basic story?
Jealousy says there's not enough to go around, so I'll be denied. I won't get any.
It's easy to see when we're referring to jealousy in relationships. I'm with someone - and there's only one of them. I could lose them. I could lose the object of my affection. But rather than deal with that fear, I think I'll tell myself a story instead.
And then jealousy becomes like a tape loop. I end up thinking the same destructive thoughts over and over again. Nothing gets resolved. And that's such a shame, because it's really not that hard to end. I did it. And so can you.
